Maybe I'm misinterpreting it, but it sounds a bit that only knots allows for changing the OP_RETURN size. I run core and the OP_RETURN limit is set to 100 bytes.

That's what I'm also thinking, they got pressured to shut down. And the attack was just the good excuse for the public. Can't prove it, but that's what my gut tells me. It sure was clear that the state won't allow their service to run forever. Agree that all LSPs will be target.

it was a common criticism 8 years ago that LSPs are structurally similar to money transmitters in ways that regular bitcoin nodes are not. I believed it but a lot of people didn't want to believe it at the time.

After their note about being attacked does anybody else finds it a bit strange that they are shutting down their node completely? Are they spinning up a new one with better security or is something more happening behind the scenes we don't know yet?
