Yesterday, as @nprofile1q... was getting increasingly frustrated looking at a static train and Rick the camera-man was getting excellent footage from that, my toddler-buddy was enjoying the pretty wildflower #garden at Padborg station.

Padborg honestly has a lovely little garden right on its platform. And that makes me wonder about other good examples of train stations with good greenery or natural features right inside of them.

Any others stations / platforms like this?

In 'Around the World in Eighty Days' the traveller hires a rail-replacement-elephant on finding himself stuck towards Calcutta.

It's part of the adventure. And made for a memorable narrative.

This morning @nprofile1q... on his 'Longest train journey in the EU' challenge is figuring out whether to take the Swedish equivalent of a rail-replacement-elephant (aka a Scania bus) or to go full-in and go for a #train that might not come.

Whatever the outcome, it's an excellent adventure!

Seriously though: I'm starting to think DSB / Talgo has like one single very disinterested train toilet technician.

On a positive note: of the four toilets I checked all the door locks worked and only two had these open technical panels.

Blijkbaar gaat er misinformatie rond over wat er in het Tennet hoogspanningsstation van Meeden in de brand staat.

Het is bij gebouw C, ongeveer bij nummer 1. De brand is in een dwarsregeltransformator, en dan voornamelijk de 140.000 liter koelolie in de trafo en het bijbehorende lekbakje.

Dit is een soort super "licht dimmer" om de 380kV verbinding met Duitsland te regelen (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarsregeltransformator).

Look in a mirror. You might see a very similar sight than me: white, tall, middle aged without a Britney Spears or ACAB face tattoo.

Just like @nprofile1q... I often don't get checked personally (and just like him I often remind them they forgot all the non-brown people).

But others are. For example on the Flensburg - Kolding train this week. Of the ten passengers eight were completely ignored. The two "spanish looking guys" got checked. They were Danish.

Is todays referendum in #Iceland reported somewhat prominently in your regular news outlets?

I'm a bit surprised that even on my regular news outlets I had to actively search for it. Frankly. It seems @nprofile1q... has better reporting on it than at least the Dutch outlets I follow.

I just noticed: #Arriva updated their route planner with actual train travel between #Leer (DE) and #Groningen (NL).

First connection is on Monday October 5 at 7:23. It takes a transfer in Winschoten and 80 minutes.

First connection from Groningen to Leer is at 5:38 same day and is a direct train taking 59 minutes.

Of course those times are without the 3959 day delay for that fff bridge.

Goodmorning from the foggy Danish countryside 🇩🇰

I'm walking to my bus, an SNCF / Keolis operated electric blob "Golden Dragon" made in China for commuter purposes. Using it for longer routes stretches it a bit comfort wise. It's not that bad though.

I'm going on a little three day train based trip tomorrow and really struggle with packing.

Most trips I do are either with the hobbit (thus filling my large MacPac with stuff + dragging a stroller) or for work (Brompton + bike bag with laptop, clothes etc etc).

Now however I'm kinda stuck at two socks, some underwear, an extra tshirt, some food and my passport.

It feels like I'm missing something big. Weird feeling.

I've just used 2000 #DB BahnBonus points on a Freifahrt International ticket (Kolding-Munich with a minor 16 hr transfer in Wuppertal, return in Nightjet Minicabin!).

Maybe everyone here knew this already but it took me some time to figure out:

Booking a free BahnBonus Freifahrt only works (logged in or not) if the language on the bahn.de website is set to German..

Knowing DB this is probably not malicious but just a known issue on a very long to-do list.
