Good thing to remember that the Republican party is Nikki Haley not Donald Trump. They would have him in prison had good people not stood their ground for him. And you won't get JD or Rubio nominated if midterm are anything to go by.

Anyone from the Freedom Caucus will be a good start. Many good prospective nominees amongst Democrats too.

You can't vote in retrospect unfortunately.

But I don't know that Republicans are going to be hopeless in 2028, or that the Democrats will nominate a lunatic. The pendulum has swung the other way again but it might be balancing itself out.

There is no incentive to expand the conflict in Russia. Only pride and ego.

Fiscally, gridlock slows down spending, so this will be some temporary relief.

Trump had a very strong campaign, he deserved to be president. He didn't follow through so now we have gridlock again. I think the US system is working as it should.

It's quite resistant to lying, scummy politicians. Nothing is structurally broken.

Can't say the same thing about anywhere else.
