Reading @nprofile1q... & @nprofile1q... book 'Digitale Solidarität' in German 🤓

My understanding so far: this book aims to provide a political left perspective on how to create a better digital world than the current one. First by discussing the problems of capitalism & digitalisation followed by proposals for a diff approach. It pleads to combine digital & social issues, because they cannot be seen separately. They are part of the same struggle ✊

Aanrader!

This explains very well why "bad" code contributions by enthusiastic people can still be very worthwhile in the long run.

Also LLM's will not share a drink with you at a conference reminiscing about that time you collaborated on a piece of code, or sharing stories about stuff happening in their life.

Opensource projects dismissing these social aspects are doomed in my view.

One of the open source projects I used to (many years ago, so I am not really affected anymore) has recently decided to allow AI contributions. One of their arguments is that they judge submissions on quality, not tools used. Back when I was an active contributor (to the project Show more

Roel Maalderink (@nprofile1q...) is a well known Dutch satirical comedian. Together with @nprofile1q... he tries to connect with people at Meta while wearing their pervert glasses...giving them a taste of their own medicine. 🤣

Seems most of them are not that happy when somebody is using their company's product to invade their privacy.

Maybe they could do something about this? 🤔

We need more of this to fight back against #bigtech!

Las net deze column over het afwegingskader van de Vereniging Nederlandse Gemeenten:

https://ibestuur.nl/overheid-in-transitie/standaardisering/vng-stelt-teleur-met-afwegingskader-social-media

I'm exploring to move our mail & calendar from my current provider to a new NL or EU based mail provider. Any extra's like video meet or office is a bonus.

Why? Because our current provider is no longer offering our current service anymore & they changed some legal stuff which does not bode well.

Currently looking at mailbox.org (Heinlein Gruppe) & soverin.nl (Sharing Group)

Any good/bad experiences with those? Other tips (no Proton)?

Am I the only one having issues with the Aurora #Android app? Updating & installing apps seems broken.

I'm using V4.8.3 on LineageOS 22.2 (Android 15) & on Iodé 7.6 (Android 16). The latter returns "Unable to parse TLS packet header" the older Android phone attempts to download & silently fails. It does not matter if I use a Google account or an anonymous account.

Are you able to update/install apps with Aurora?

Midnight.

It is 25C outside. I'm not in the tropics nor in a dessert. It is the middle of The Netherlands. In Europe. A northern land known for ice skating in the winter. Most people do not associate The Netherlands with 30C degree summers, but I guess we will from now on.

I have never experienced these high temperatures in the night here. Considering that these are the coldest summers now. And we're the 'lucky' ones.

Scary.
