We extracted our last frames and got several more quarts of honey. Check out the contrast in color depth. The late spring/early summer honey on the left is light and a mix of wildflowers, clover and blooming trees. The jar on the right is late summer honey. It's dark with a mineral rich taste of sunflowers, sumac, buckwheat and blackberry/elderberry juice. Very complex but both are delicious, just different ends of the seasons.

Melissa harvested her first corn today, the mini blue popcorn. She was so excited I had to stop mid stream to go look at it. 🤦🏼‍♂️ It is pretty cool though!

We took a walk in the Missouri Botanical Garden this afternoon. The weather was great and there was an abundance of wildlife to go with the greenery. The conservatory had a Mediterranean display, the two flowers below are from there. The other pictures are a dragonfly and a family of wood ducks living in a water feature with giant lily pads.

We also ran into @nprofile1q... and his wife. It's always nice to meet fellow Masto friends in person.

The peach tree has its tent! Hopefully the blossoms survive down to 13°F. It's double walled with an air gap with 1.5oz frost fabric so rating wise it should work out. 🤞🏼🍑 A couple blossoming daffodils got buckets. All the raised beds are covered, we're trying to keep the food alive.

Hello Mastodon, good afternoon/evening! I bought all the boards needed to build my peach tree frost tent but ran out of fabric. So I have to pick more up to finish. We're looking at a couple of nights in the low teens so we must protect our blossoms. Meanwhile the new daffodils and grape hyacinth are coming in nicely.

We're expected at a birthday party at 5pm which I'm not looking forward to but family is family, so I'll be there.
