This is a rendering decision, not a bug. We render any and all note mentions & link previews in order at the bottom of every note, not inline with text.

Our caching service does not yet support kind 1111, so these notifications exist but you just can’t seem them on Primal yet. We’re working on making them available soon, so stay tuned.

It’s not required, just an option. If you feel like using a browser extension (recommended if not using the remote signer), or just plugging in your nsec directly into the web app (not recommended, unsafe) you still have those options in “advanced login”
