Here’s a pretty cool story from the garden this morning…
My grandparents had a turkey farm when I was young, 1970s to ~1990.
My grandmother had the biggest garden with the best asparagus every spring.
In 1990, the town bought the property and kept it as open space, mowed.
In 2019, establishing my new farm, I thought: wonder if grandma’s asparagus is still there.
I went back in the spring and found two sprigs!! I dug them out and brought them back to my new garden.
This is now their forth season getting established.
I call the two bunches: grandma and grandpa.
My great grandfather planted this asparagus in that old garden in 1967!!
We have yet to taste any.
Maybe this year will be our first.
Pretty cool?
