The Kofán community in the Colombian Amazon now runs on their own power.

30 kW off grid. Panels, batteries, inverters. Theirs.



This started on a beach in Costa Rica.

Bitcoin Freedom Fest. I met a guy named @Brad Cuddy . We shared values about sovereignty, BTC and freedom.

I told him about a community in the jungle. He wanted to see it.

In December he came.

Brad during his visit to El Diviso Kofán Community in the Colombian Amazon.

While he was there the power went out. 24 hours during his visit, and five more days after he flew home.

That is normal there. Not an hour. Days. Because somebody has to walk into the jungle and find which pole fell.

And every time, the food in the fridge is gone. The fish somebody spent all morning catching in the river is gone. Days of work, gone.

Sovereignty is not sovereignty if someone else can turn it off.

On his last day Brad looked at me and said, I do not know how, but we are getting this community electricity.

He went home to Texas and took it to his company, Cholla, where he runs the Bitcoin mining side. Cholla funded the system. GivePower installed it.

No grant cycle. No RFP. No twelve month review committee.

A conversation on a beach, a guy who came to see for himself, and a company that said yes.



That is the school. At night. Lights on.

Then GivePower told us they needed a room for the batteries and controllers.

The community built it out of bamboo they cut across their own river.

GivePower said they had never had their equipment housed in a bamboo structure before.



The panels came from outside. The building protecting them came from the community, from their own land, by their own hands, using a skill they did not have twelve months ago.

Next, we put the excess to work.

Canaan is donating miners. What they earn goes into a fund the community holds for the upkeep of the system itself. Panels cleaned, batteries replaced, parts repaired, paid for by the system instead of by a donor.

A donated system that pays for its own maintenance does not need somebody to come back and rescue it every year.

We already run wages on Bitcoin rails into that community. This is the next piece.

This is what this network does when somebody actually shows up.

Bitcoiners, Nostr family. I want to show you what this network is capable of.

A little over a year ago, I shared a vision here on Primal: building real sovereignty alongside an Indigenous medicine community in the Colombian Amazon. A few Bitcoin angels answered the call. Their sats started everything. To this day, most of this work is funded and deployed through Bitcoin rails, from the first donation to the field. (thank you @paul keating for sharing our project)



Here is what that call became in one year. A deep-water well, more than 50 meters down. More than 20 youth trained in bamboo and natural building, and with their own hands they cured and processed over 4,000 bamboo pieces, raised more than 1,000 square meters of community space, and just finished a 30 kW off-grid solar system. Soon the mining equipment arrives, and this community will be mining sats deep in the jungle, powered by their own sun. And the school is running again. Btw did I mention that the school teacher has been learning from @My First Bitcoin so he can teach the community about BTC!

That is the magnitude of what happens when this community follows a call. And the next one is the biggest yet.

Food is the next system. Without food, there is no sovereignty.

To fund it, we chose reciprocity.

Nala is a Bitcoiner and an artist. For TerraKeepers she painted 21 originals. Hand-painted mandalas finished in gold, many with Bitcoin at the center. Each one is the only one of its kind.



This is not a donation. It's an exchange. You receive sacred art, painted with intention, that will live in your home. El Diviso receives a community bio-factory, seeds, and the expert accompaniment that lets each family grow its own food on its own land.

The rippling goes two ways. Every time you look at your painting, you're reminded that the good of your support is still rippling, as food for the next generation.

The goal: place all 21 by September 21, so the 12-month regenerative agriculture process begins this season.
