I think it is still early, but I appreciate your content! I am a professional seafarer and so always enjoy content of an aquatic nature! Especially if it helps avoid some of those damn "boating accidents" πŸ˜‚

Just be advised of the following: "This guy was injured on his rear thorax (upper back) by a propeller. It resulted in what’s called a flail segment., where multiple ribs are broken. The mechanism for drawing air into the lungs by generating negative pressure has been severely compromised. This individual would be very short of breath if not unconscious due to lack of oxygen. What you should do here: Call for help immediately. This person needed oxygen, and hospital / critical care."

This guy was injured on his rear flank by a propeller. It resulted in what's called a sucking chest wound. Air is entering through the wound, filling the abdominal cavity compressing and collapsing the lung. There looks to also be some broken ribs. What you should do here:

Find some sterile plastic like cling film, put it over the wound and tape it in 3 places so it forms a one way valve.

Suggestion is also that the effected lung should be on the person's downside as it could help prevent the effected lung from completely collapsing under the pressure of accumulating blood in the chest cavity. Keeping the good lung upwards may assist in maintaining its correct functioning. However moving a person in this state is very risky as broken bones could cause more damage, so in this situation, don't move patient, and get the one way valve working and call for professional assistance.

Feck, that's worse than any of my collapsed lungs, but then, barring operations they were never caused by external trauma. Good advice reg the valve. It feels bloody weird as your lung slowly reinflated as the air is drawn out (usually by a drain of course).

Thank you for sharing potentially life saving information like this! This is real value! #grownostr

Thanks for sharing this valuable sign. I'm an emergency doctor but never see this paradoxical chest movement right at scene.
