🚨 U.S. Treasury just bought back $15 Billion of their own debt, equaling the largest Treasury buyback in history.

How do they do this?
Treasury pays with existing cash from its Treasury General Account (TGA) at the Federal Reserve. they issue new Treasury securities (often short-term T-bills) to raise the funds. This is just refinancing/rolling over debt… you know, replacing some maturing or older notes with new issuance 🫣🤯💸
