Like I said before. If the data center builders gave a shit about the local community or environment they would all use closed loop cooling. Most new ones don't.
That is one simple to understand case...
I don’t think data centers give a shit about the local community. They give a shit about making money. However I think that there is so much money that both the company and local government can and do come to contractual agreements that are good for both parties. Win for the host, with for the ai company, win for the utility, win for the locals, win for the US. Simply make them build closed loop. Simply make them pay for upgrades to infra or increased electricity costs. For what it’s worth, and it’s just anecdotal, my friend says they only build out closed loop.
The solutions are easy but the problem is even with this things in place- people are still anti-data center. It’s so ingrained in people’s minds these days
