species precisely is bound 1:1 with ability to interbreed. dogs are wolves. actually. you can breed most species of wolf with dogs. even somewhat divergent branches like the australian dingo are still wolves. and that last one brings up an important behavioural divergence - dingos don't bark. barking in wolves is a marginal behaviour in wild populations, and if you ever saw any place where large numbers of feral dogs have emerged due to culture, like you can find all throughout the balkans, the wild dogs howl more than they bark.
howling is social coordination. barking is the margin because it's the wolf way of warning the pack that there is danger incoming.
gender is already implicit in species. it is not a personality, it's a biological role. one produces sperm, the other has eggs to fertilize. no different to pollen and ova in flowering plants. casting this as a personality choice is explicitly invalidating the biological fundament, *within the species container* and is *explicitly* an attack - veiled - upon the viability and sovereignty of the species upon which this is being inflicted.
