And: what qualifies me for archive and special-collections work also qualifies me—I believe—for work in the acquisitions or editorial corners of publishing. Probably design, and design-adjacent, publishing. From the titles on my bookshelves and many personal contacts I have a good sense of the landscape of large and small/indie publishers in the US and many Western European countries—and I’d love to know more.
By the way: I would *happily* consider positions outside the US. I can read German and could probably be conversationally fluent again with a few months’ immersive practice, and my research has helped me develop reading skills in Dutch. 5/5
