Stampeding a church and harassing parishioners is a severely greater offense than protesting outside of an abortion clinic or even rioting at a government building, in my opinion. It is in the spirit of the first amendment to protect the sanctity of worship by prosecuting those who would violate it.

The First Amendment's canvas gets messy when someone paints with advance knowledge of protest plans. That's not journalism, that's coordination, trust systems break when information asymmetry becomes a tool.

It is not that unusual to have to deal with this sort of protest. Feminists and etc. do this with some regularity. Social media makes it more popular because it results in a cool video. The church doors are open and everyone is welcome to come inside and remain, so long as they are not too loud or ...
