I think people realize, even if only subconsciously, that protesting taxes brings the idea that taxes aren't a universal unquestionable constant into the zeitgeist.

Yeah, that's why the Government is powerful and protests and complaining are weak.
Don't use their money, "services", and defend yourself. Those are the only things you can do. Making it a social death sentence to be affiliated in anyway with the government is another tactic but I feel like most people have some leech in their family and won't turn the stigma on their own blood.
Either way people should either get serious or STFU. The whining about how the government did X is pathetic and annoying.
