Why do new appliances all sound like old annoying 8 bit video games? I set the temperature on the oven and it does a little jingle like I just got a mushroom in Super Mario Brothers.

I have a new washer and dryer and they both make a sound when you press the on button... and the same when it completes... like you' described.
Additionally, you have to press the "run" button on my new washer and dryer for four seconds before it will start the cycle... counting down 3-2-1... but don't see the "1" and take your finger off... it will not start... Learned the hard way several times when I returned expecting washed or dried clothes and have neither.
Old appliances were so much better... and not engineered to prematurely fail.
