Overall I’d say codex 5.3 and 5.4 are better than opus 4.6 at dev work. I’ve had codex solve problems that opus just gave up on time and again.
Interesting - I even use Sonnet over codex, seems to be much better at sticking to the plan and grounding the work in other code I already have. Maybe my prompting works better with Claude than it does with codex?
