@fsf @Saorsa I don't see any "GNU philosophy" in plain common distrivbutive structure. the HFS is Unix philosophy, the package system is wide spread across many systems.
GUIX means chaos to me and dll hell that people tried to avoid for so many years. and it was done for reason. there's no need for multiple versions if user is not a developer testing many environments and even in this case usual chroot and LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable cover all the needs. and the real "need" of GUIX I see is the proprietary software, as Alexandre said above. because there's no need in such weird and skew solutions if one uses free software and can build everything with his own set of libraries. and GUIX plants the bad practice of incapable to make any patches pseudo-maintainers that are not really maintainers but emply place holders. and total stupidity is not something that I can walcome in free software. such approach was imposed by proprietary software devs and it's only necessary for proprietary sostware, as a fact.
