This confirms my comment to some extent as it also explains why the language of “unscrewing” is not appropriate. I would concede that if the lancets of the stinger are not deep enough for the barbs to gain traction then the bee can often live to fight another day. I have kept bees in the past and have observed some unenthusiastic stings!
