I’ve always been totally honest with my son. The only time I wish I hadn’t been was explaining death when our cat died when he was 3-4. He didn’t need that at that age.
We talk a lot about which foods are healthy and help you grow big and strong. He loves sweets like all kids but understands that sugar isn’t good and does a pretty good job of self regulating most of the time.
