I’m 33 and I mean, my grandparent’s generation was much more lax when it came to age. I’m not sure if it’s true to say that the further back in time you go, the more normal it was to marry people sometimes decades older, but it certainly seems that way to me. Maybe it’s never gone away. Like you said, if y’all connect mentally/emotionally then I guess it works. My brother is with an older woman and it’s the best relationship he’s been in so far so.
