but seriously, the bottleneck is now and will remain for a while, actually testing ideas in the real world. Very little science is actually limited by "do you have a good hypothesis to test?", it's limited by a wide array of financial and institutional bottlenecks and inefficiencies. Chatbots don't solve that.

Probably.. but possibly still true. I think the real challenge with AI is that any point can be argued convincingly whether true, false, or the most dangerous: half-true. With so much “knowledge” how do we distinguish “wisdom”?
