zkp would allow this if it was designed right. if it was just one bit. but age limits vary and birthdays are quite distinct.

They just issue tokens saying if you above the requested age limit. I think 16 and 21, or something.

Based on the article it seems like, even with a carefully designed protocol, the role of credential issuers will be a problem. I gather that verifiers need to trust issuers.
