I should say too -- what Cory Doctorow has talked about in terms of "enshittification" makes me more optimistic.
Even normies know they're getting an increasingly raw deal... Grocery store prices going up for lower quality, same with cars, health care, just about everything else... And as for Tech, nobody's "happy" with this. Nobody "likes" Instagram or XMeta. They're just there because (a) network effects and (b) they've literally never heard of the alternative.
This reflects a "black pill" trap that early adopters find themselves in.... You spend a bunch of time and mental energy on a thing, and then a year or two later go "why aren't the crowds showing up?" and assume it's because people don't actually want freedom.
