Are web analytics dead? Yesterday I published a blog post that received 1,000 views within several hours. While it would be great to think that my blog posts are that popular, in fact 80–90% of the views are from bots.

Independent Analytics uses Matomo's device-detector to filter out bots, but it seems that it can no longer keep up with #AI bots.

For some time, I've evaluated the success of articles based on the real human interaction they were able to spark, I suppose this is all we have left now.
