I don't like the idea personally, but the Golden State Killer might not have been caught without this. I believe several other people have been caught since. I guess everything has pros and cons.
There are far more cons then pros.
Uploading DNA so government agencies can committee crimes as bad as the Golden State Killer, but in much higher numbers is not a win.
