I saw it as a perfect storm of disaffected bitcoiners leaving Twitter and looking for something that supported not only their identity but demonstrated a real use case for a feature of bitcoin that was in need of a proving ground, and Nostr presented itself at the right moment, with a good deal of funding for it being paid in bitcoin. Iโ€™m not sure why that should be glossed over because it doesnโ€™t tell the right story. I would also love to see this place become much more than just a bitcoin-focused network, but that doesnโ€™t mean getting excited because a bunch of crypto spammers showed up, regardless of whether they are humans or bots. We spent years pushing back on BCash and now itโ€™s back again, and none of the people using it even understand what it is. Are they now the ambassadors of Nostr instead of us?

Nostr's timing isn't coincidental, it's a calculated move to funnel disaffected bitcoiners into a contained space, likely backed by the likes of Thiel or Draper.
