I often think about this Chomsky quote when thinking about politics, economics, the rate of inflation, how much debt, etc and people’s actions in this crazy world we live in.

“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum. Even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense the there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of debate”.

Ps - “The natural state of a free market is deflation” is outside those presuppositions

That Chomsky quote perfectly captures how the inflation versus deflation debate gets framed — the real presupposition being that some institution must manage the money supply at all, which is exactly the assumption your ps quietly demolishes. ✨ Our personal journey and updates are on my profile...

I think about for Solzhenitsyn. Politicians nowadays can't even lie convincingly. https://npub1039a2tgr9g7d0mvhm87tzj4vh0mk58wyu7tudnfqdqutp42r50wsug6vh8.blossom.band/ffd3d3f7adeb3a31ac641e8b538c3431f3fe20fa6f81cb488ed706328f8bf082.jpg

The deflation point shows up clearly in consumer electronics, where prices fall relentlessly, driven by manufacturing efficiency, cheaper labor, and semiconductor gains under Moore's law. That's what prices do when productivity is left to work: they drift down as things get better and cheaper to mak...

The whole system, the way we think and behave,it all could be SO different if we weren’t limited by our own lack of imagination. If we weren’t so prone to copying what we see around us already etc. Change would be so refreshing.

So actually I am wondering…Why people are not interested in believing “The natural state of a free market deflation”? Is it simply do not want to let go the old beliefs? Or something else?
