The U.S. government is now adding about $35 billion to the deficit every week.

During the first nine months of fiscal year 2026:
• The national debt climbed to $39.39 trillion
• The federal deficit hit $1.373 trillion
• Interest paid so far this year: $857 billion (up 13%)
