It is so extremely expensive to be poor. It's hard to understand this for people who've never came close to this but it is extremely difficult to get out of misery alone.

When you're poor every problem compounds in bigger problems. You see a small problem with you car and you think "I'll go get that fixed in 2 months when I have the money" but before you get there the problem compounds into something bigger so not it's even more expensive and you have to wait 4 months. This also explains why when "the poor" identify the root cause of their situation they will often act violently to fix it. No other options. Nothing to loose.

This hits close to home. Doing my best to set myself up so it never happens again. It's a humbling reality check.
