Is push notifications the difference between losing and winning? Maybe so.
We know for a fact it’s one of the tools used by dark patterns, and it appears to be working for big social.
“Hey that sucker hasn’t opened the app in a while, let’s send a push saying one of his friends liked this meme to get him back”.

It all circles back to what kind of people we would like to see on nostr. The average person is no different than an iPad baby, dark pattern works. If we want to bring in more autists then we do, idk, p2p note replication over FIPS or something.
The primal “cache” server (backend for frontend as @Nuh puts it) approach should make it possible to appease both groups, at least in theory.
