We don't have many deciduous trees here so it's not really a problem. I agree that they're too good a resource to let leave the property.
Branches & sticks that drop get turned into biochar by burning under restricted oxygen.
If I had excess leaves I'd probably put them in a wire cage to concentrate them & let them break down of their own accord. Whenever I clean the gutters, I'm amazed at the quality of soil leaves produce. It would make an excellent mulch.
