Not trying to be an “ackchually” guy but many of the developers of the atom bomb were very conflicted and regretful about what they helped create. They feared it could kill a lot of people and even end the world as it was known at worst. I’m sure some did think it would save the world too. But many are record after the fact being shook about it.
