A month later, a happy outcome! Unity kept the default behavior being buggy, but added a (very hidden) setting to un-bug the terrain shadows. Per-Terrain object, you need to switch inspector to Debug ...
@nprofile1q... Please enjoy being able to disable the enablement of a fix to the bug of shadows not being buggy until such a time that the disablement of the enablement will be disabled.
