Generate a Seed Phrase: 4 Offline Secure Methods
https://seedkeys.xyz/how-to-generate-a-seed-phrase/
I was in the middle of writing a piece on how to safely dispose of a seed phrase when the Coldcard...
Please note that not all methods are equal:
-> Coins can have a 10โ20% bias, resulting in ~110 bits of entropy (~10.3 words worth).
-> Non-casino dice can have a 5โ10% bias, resulting in ~119 bits of entropy (~11.15 words worth).
-> Tiles/cards have about a 1โ2% bias, resulting in ~126 bits of entropy (~11.8 words worth).
This assumes good shuffling/throwing, but with coins especially it's easy to mess up when shaking them in your hands or a container: they tend not to flip well and give the same result more times in a row; a phenomenon known as second-order bias, on top of the first-order bias (imperfect randomness) reflected in the previous figures.
Also worth noting: tiles behave better under bad shuffling (less entropy loss), and a tileset is much easier to audit than a coin or a die (loaded dice exist). For context, I went through that research and testing to identify the best security/UX for Penlock, so Bitcoiners can enjoy the best solution without having to scratch their heads. ๐ซ
