I follow 300+ people, any more and my feed becomes clustered and hard to keep up. Regardless, I see the reposts, global posts and following posts all diverging on the same talking points, OVER & OVER...

Like I said it's the feed that you choose for yourself. Certain clients also allow you to only view original posts from the author instead of reposts, boost, or shares.

Also if you note about other things, people will find you. Hashtags work wonders. There's a huge following of #philosophy, for instance (I note about bitcoin quite frequently, so don't interpret anything I say here as self promotion)
