Washington was a long-time Catholic, and he was, in fact, a Freemason. Freemasons are Jesuits, or rather, were Jesuits for a long time.
What he did to the American people after becoming the president of the city-state corporation of the District of Columbia, including making Catholicism lawful (when it wasn't), goes to show that Washington wasn't a hero at all.
