I while back I worked with a blind man at a tech company. He was very tech savvy and the way he was setup at the time was all speech driven. I want to say it was the Dragon software, but I for some reason cannot recall the actual package name. He would just plug his headset in and dictate what he wanted to do/type and it would screen read the options etc. He was very capable with the keyboard as well, but without sight relied on that software package to read the text and options to him. I have lost touch with him, but hopefully this helps a tiny bit.
