Your average Saudi is a nice guy but the Saudi dawah project (ei Wahhabism) is a discrace to Islam. That's one of the key problems of our day for sure.
Economics is definitely a key problem as well as the championing of modern economics is literally embracing riba which is war against Allah. But this really stems from a political materialism which started very early in Islam, certainly with the Umayyads at least.
Anyhow, I've said this before in many places but I don't believe we can solve anything as an ummah until we correct the injustice of Karbala (and no, I'm not a Shia).
