Numerous reports from experienced moon-sighters all across North America have come in negative. Additionally, there have been no credible reports of the new crescent moon (hilal) of Ramadan being sighted anywhere in the world on the evening of Tuesday, February 17th.

Thus the sunnah would complete the 30 days of Sha'ban and begin Ramadan 1447 AH Wednesday evening with the first day of the fast on Thursday, February 19th.

The crescent would be visible shortly after sunset in the area above where the sun had set. It is a beautiful experience to sight its emergence, and it is the sunnah of our noble Prophet ﷺ.

Qualified Muslim astronomers and reliable visibility forecasts indicate that on Tuesday evening a "naked-eye" (unaided) sighting of the new crescent moon will be highly improbable in North America and around the world.

so i beleive measurement is a barrier here. like i can qualitfy how many npubs are active on the relays i moderate but there are hundreds of other relays and even if i was able to locate them all it would be questionable wether i could translate that data into anything meaningful. in short, i think it is dificult to speak to a centralized metric in a decentralized space. so perhaps there's a more relevant question we should be asking instead 🤷🏻‍♂️

We definitely just need better apps, I get zero success trying to promote nostr to people right now. If I get anyone to look at nostr, they see no reason to join, just Bitcoin spam and/or Nazis

new uesers on NoorNote or just generally on nostr? and how are you messuring that?

as for NoorNote, it is still in early Alpha release from my understanding so I believe the focus has been mostly getting folks to try it and provide feedback. like the web client has only been out a couple weeks. anyhow by the feeback i've seen come in for it appears to be growing. not sure if it's hit that total 23 users though 😅
