My hypothesis is that most of them don't understand how to "socialize" (because they're bombarded with brainrot from social networks) and their only escape is to consume drugs (including alcohol) to be more "sociable". It's a dependency relationship. I would dare to say: a fragility that is too embarrassing to accept publicly.
