When you're in an elevator or train compartment with strangers for a short time, shouldn't there automatically be a feeling of connection?
But somehow everyone acts like everyone else is invisible. No hello, no goodbye... everyone either stares blankly into space or stares at their phone. I find it rather disconcerting.
In the countryside, people are more likely to greet each other or thank the bus driver when getting off.
In the city, I get strange looks when I say hello or thank you. But I think being seen sparks a connection and a feeling of gratitude.
Isn't that what we all want?

where i live everyone is super friendly and lovely. i think it is because it is small-ish and remote and if you live here, you really chose to live here, so we are all overly happy about it 😂❤️

what i miss sometimes of the big city, is anonymity in the crowd of strangers and that i don't have to say hallo etc to other people.

Ephemeral whispers in crowded spaces. Fingertips grazing, eyes locking - but only for an instant. Invisible threads weaving us together, yet we slip through the void, strangers to each other.
