When you talk to a person, and they mention that they like books, and read a lot, ask them, "Fiction or non-fiction?" Question their library.
Most people that open/listen to books, read smut or make ...
Both, fiction and non, usually alternately back and forth. Right now is non-fiction about the subversive art extremes hidden within the prodigious output of Frank Zappa, my favorite classical/orchestral composer. (Negative Dialectics of Poodle Play)
Before that was Isaac Asimov's Empire (fiction), helping me learn what fiction authors of the past thought AI would be like, with terrific, uncanny accuracy.
Before that, the autobiography of subversive comedian George Carlin! Superb.
Before that was Devon Erikson's Theft Of Fire (sci-fi ₿itcoin future space fiction) It taught me stuff like how similar fictional characters can be to real life people in the real world. Fiction has teachable moments for some folks reading some books, but certainly not all.
Didn't you learn something from reading Mandibles? (fiction) Say for example, "don't do excessive number of jumping jacks every day for the rest of you life"...?
