I’ve noticed this with my Pineapples and Kale.
Some seasons 30+ Pineapples, others not so much.
Same with Kale…some years every seed germinates and grows; last year and this year I’m limited to my single volunteer that has miraculously survived two Florida Summers🤦♂️
