This is true. There was an Indian chap in an interview a while ago who was asked about immigration to his area.
He went on a rant about moving here years before, and how it was nice then. He missed the ‘white’ people 😂
I’m not actually sure what I think about it other than, I would rather have 2 ‘foreign’ born neighbours who are cool, than two c*nts who happen to look like me.
And I think there is the nuance. It is the culture that people want to preserve, but that gets conflated with race.
I read somewhere that culture for us is like water to fish. It is the environment you ‘swim’ in that largely goes unnoticed - until it is gone.
