Three years ago MicroStrategy / Strategy turned the Lightning Network into an internal payments rail, assigning every employee a Lightning address so they can send Bitcoin tips or bonuses instantly internally, no middlemen.
It’s thought that they likely run their own LND node on AWS for internal control & security, but will use external licensed partners to scale broader enterprise Lightning tools, which I expect they will enable as a future in the future.
