I'd interpret it more optimistically. Perhaps they want to understand what it is that makes them more ideal as a person and want to emulate that. Goes for both men and women.

Being masculine is one thing, but parading around about masculine shit is dumb. Yes, you're male, so is half of the world, congrats. You're no special snowflake. It's like basing your personality around liking to eat food. 😂
