@nprofile1q... AC is a blessing for sure, but if you don't have it I totally agree, something like a desk fan right on you can make a huge difference.
When we lived in San Jose one summer the power went out and the high was 108ºF. I plugged my desk fan into an invert that I had hooked up to a spare 12v car battery and had that blowing on me while I read on the couch. It made a miserable heat not bad at all.
