the key with any go bag/tool kit, whether doctor bag, camping kit, etc:
- have an inventory list of what's supposed to be in there in the kit
- if you have time, check you have everything before you leave
- if you notice you need something you didn't bring, add it to that list right then
- when you get home, as soon as you can, replenish anything used, add new items
seems common sense but if you're not disciplined about it, you will inevitably run out of something you need.
