Or we might be the first... It is unlikely but not impossible. With a sample size of one, we could be totally normal or totally abnormal in any direction. Civilisations that manage to spread, either to neighbouring planets or star systems, are more likely to either survive long enough to contact another, or spread life itself further that in turn increases the likelihood of contact happening at some point - but you are right, length of civilisations existing probably would have to be in the millions of years in order to contact any other ones.
